1. Our adoption fees put towards the cost of the flight ticket for your cat: flights are usually around £350 but we ask for £150 to £200 for the UK and we fund raise for the rest (approx. EUR 250) for Europe. For Canada, please get in touch with us. Your kitty will be neutered, and have their own passport with vaccines in and a separate health certificate.
2. If you have found an animal that you are interested in or want our help with a match, please get in touch with us directly via email: admin@luluscairorescues.com. Do tell us a little about yourself, including what other pets you have, your country of residence and family members ( as some cats are better then others for children).
3. A volunteer from the rescue will contact you as soon as possible. We will then be able to answer any questions you have. If you decide that you want to proceed we will ask for your address, email address and phone number and arrange to carry out a home check with one of our local volunteers either in person or via video call.
4. After approval we will ask you to sign an adoption questionnaire/contract.
5. We will make arrangements for the animals to travel on a mutually agreed date. All travel arrangements are made by us. You may have to collect your pet from the airport at your own expense. This really does depend on the flight arrangements so everything will be discussed and we can usually sort out any issues. (A few of our cats may already be in foster families in the UK.)
6. The adoption fee is due in full one week before travel. You will be put in contact with one of Lulu's volunteers who will liaise with you directly regarding the travel.
7. We prefer indoor only homes or homes that have a catio or enclosed garden for cats. Remember our rescue cats have been abandoned, sick or mistreated. They have been through a lot, so we want them to be safe. Shirazi cats (Egyptian Persians) also don't have much common sense outside!
8. It is recommended that you take pet insurance just in case before arrival.
9. The animals do have rescue backup in the UK so if there are any issues we will always take the animals back. You will need to agree to contact us if there are any problems in the future.
We are happy to answer any further questions you may have regarding our adoptions that aren't covered here. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
